San Pedro – Head coach Walid Regragui said on Saturday that the Moroccan national team’s match against their counterparts from DR Congo on Sunday (2:00 pm) at San Pedro’s Laurent Pokou stadium for the 2nd day (group F) of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCAN) will be “a real test, but the Atlas Lions will be looking to qualify.”
“We are expecting a great technical and tactical battle. We need to forget the match against Tanzania. We need to confirm that on Sunday against a formidable team who will also be looking to qualify,” he said at the pre-match press conference.
“We have a lot of respect for the DRC, they are a footballing country. They have great players and great clubs. You always have to fear the Leopards. The DRC are one of the best teams in the group. They can be dangerous if they are confident,” he added.
“The match schedule and the climate also count, but that’s not important,” noted Regragui, pointing out that the competition is mentally and athletically tough.
“The most important thing is to qualify. After that, it’s another tournament. We need to respect our opponents in order to achieve a good result,” he added.
