The national futsal team advanced to the semi-final of the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations after trashing Ghana 13-0, on Monday at the Palais des Sports hall in Rabat’s Prince Moulay Abdellah sports complex, on the 3rd day of the 2024 AFCON, which runs until April 21 in Morocco.
The Atlas lions’ goals were scored by Bilal Bakkali (2), Soufian Charraoui (2), Anas El Ayyane (2), Soufiane El Mesrar (1), Ismail Amazal (1), Idriss El Fenni (1), Othmane Elidrissi (1), Anas Dahani (1), Youssef Jouad (1) and Jackson Siwmawami (OG).
Thanks to this victory, the Moroccan team tops Group A with nine points from three wins against Angola, Ghana and Zambia.
The eight teams qualifying for this year’s tournament have been divided into two groups. Group A includes two-time defending champions Morocco, Angola, Ghana and Zambia, while Group B comprises Egypt, Libya, Namibia and Mauritania.
The top three teams in this African competition will book their places at the FIFA Futsal World Cup, which will be held in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6.
