San Pedro (Côte d’Ivoire) – Morocco is a model to follow in terms of football development, said Democratic Republic of Congo’s Head coach Sébastien Desabre.
“Morocco is a little further ahead in terms of its overall project concerning football. It’s an example, above all, in terms of football development, in-country structures and academies,” he stressed on Saturday at a press conference ahead of DR Congo’s match against Morocco on Sunday in San Pedro (14:00 local time), for the 2nd day (Group F) of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“At a given moment, there are no surprises. When you bet on the long term and let people work with real footballing convictions, while putting in place the necessary professionalism and time, the results will certainly come,” added the former Wydad Casablanca coach.
“Like Senegal, the Moroccan national team shows a great deal of humility on the pitch, which is this team’s strength,” he pointed out.
Morocco lead Group F with 3 points after beating Tanzania 3-0. DR Congo and Zambia, who played out a 1-1 draw, have 1 point each.
